{"id":13792,"date":"2025-10-17T16:20:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T16:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.torahmates.org\/jewish-resources\/?p=13792"},"modified":"2025-10-17T17:36:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T17:36:53","slug":"parshat-bereishit-the-hidden-wisdom-of-creation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.torahmates.org\/jewish-resources\/parshat-bereishit-the-hidden-wisdom-of-creation\/","title":{"rendered":"Parshat Bereishit &#8211; The Hidden Wisdom Of Creation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In The Beginning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Torah begins, <em>&#8220;Bereishit barah elokim<\/em> &#8211; in the beginning Hashem created&#8221; (Bereishit <a href=\"https:\/\/library.alhatorah.org\/?r1=Bereshit_1:1&amp;s1=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1:1<\/a>). Targum Yerushalmi renders, &#8220;with wisdom Hashem created&#8221;. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Moshe_Sternbuch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch shlit&#8221;a<\/a> explains that all of the inventions and intellectual discoveries of the later generations, are not new creations. Rather, there is hidden wisdom in the entire creation, and with thought and investigation, one can tap into and recognize the wonders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the novelties that are revealed in each generation already existed from the genesis of the world&#8217;s creation, but were hidden from the eyes of man. This is the rendition of <em>bereishit<\/em>, the beginning &#8211; because all of Hashem&#8217;s wisdom was hidden in creation from the beginning of time (Ta&#8217;am Vada&#8217;at pg. 5). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rambam (Maimonidies, b. 12th century, Spain; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhcny.org\/qt\/1006.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hilchot Yesodei Hatorah<\/a> 2:2) describes the path to love and fear Hashem: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;What is the path to love and fear Him? When a person contemplates His wonderous and great deeds and creations and appreciates His infinite wisdom that surpasses all comparison, he will immediately love, praise, and glorify [Him], yearning with tremendous desire to know [Hashem&#8217;s] great name, as King David stated: &#8216;My soul thirsts for the Lord for the living God&#8217;. When he reflects on these same matters, he will immediately recoil in awe and fear, appreciating how he is a tiny, lowly, and dark creature, standing with his flimsy, limited wisdom before He who is of perfect knowledge, as David stated: &#8216;When I see Your heavens, the work of your fingers&#8230; [I wonder] what is man that You should recall him'&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Hashem&#8217;s wisdom in creation is never-ending.
