{"id":1646,"date":"2015-10-01T15:18:13","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T15:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/18.191.22.100\/?p=1646"},"modified":"2024-05-07T13:20:27","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T13:20:27","slug":"stuffed-cabbage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.torahmates.org\/jewish-resources\/stuffed-cabbage\/","title":{"rendered":"Stuffed Cabbage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/oorahspirit.org\/simchas-torah-get-high-and-stay-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Simchas Torah <\/a>tradition, courtesy of Mrs. Varda Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p>1 large can cranberry sauce<\/p>\n<p>1 16 oz. can tomato sauce<\/p>\n<p>1 cup water<\/p>\n<p>juice of half a lemon<\/p>\n<p>1\/4 cup sugar<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup raisins<\/p>\n<p>2 pounds ground meat<\/p>\n<p>1 egg<\/p>\n<p>3 saltines, crushed, soaked and squeezed dry<\/p>\n<p>salt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p>1 grated medium onion<\/p>\n<p>1\/4 cup warm water mixed with 1 Tbsp. ketchup<\/p>\n<p>Combine first five ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil. Add 1\/2 cup raisins and let simmer five minutes more.<\/p>\n<p>Separate cabbage leaves according to your favorite method (such as freezing and removing the leaves once thawed.) Combine remaining ingredients and fill cabbage leaves, placing them seam-side down in a pot. Cover with sauce and simmer, covered, on top of the stove for an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Bake in a 350F oven, uncovered, basting occasionally, for one hour or until brown.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Simchas Torah tradition, courtesy of Mrs. Varda Epstein.
