You may wonder, what is the main message of the Book of Ruth? Here is one important lesson you can take to heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <em>Megillat Rut<\/em>, we witness a test of faith, when Naomi repeatedly told her two daughters-in-law to go back to their place of birth instead of joining Naomi on her return to Israel.&nbsp; Orpah returned, but the message of Ruth\u2019s stubbornness of faith can inspire us that we too should be unrelenting in maintaining our Jewish way of life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TorahMate Ronen Khordipour brings this message alive in poetry form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">It was in Bethlehem, famine that gripped\nA mother of two, to Moab she skipped\n\nWith a pair of two sons and a husband\nSoon these three men died all of a sudden\n\nNaomi was left now far from her youth\nTwo daughter-in-laws named Orpah and Ruth\n\nThe three women then set out on the road\nReturn to Judah is what they had chose\n\nNaomi offers the women a test\n\u201cGo to your mother\u2019s house, back to your nest\u201d\n\nAt first both Orpah and Ruth had refused\nBut soon thereafter, just Ruth was enthused\n\nTo join Naomi in a foreign land\nTo join her mother-in-law hand in hand\n\n\u201cYour God is my God, your people are mine\u201d\nThis declaration by Ruth was a sign\n\nA convert's fervent devotion, named Ruth\nSoon revealed about this woman a truth\n\nFor her progeny was a king we know\nKing David who would defeat his foe\n\nThe giant Goliath whose mother we know\nOrpah who once left Naomi which shows\n\nHow Ruth refused to leave Naomi\u2019s side\nA parable that reveals her Jewish pride\n\nShe did not waiver, she did not flicker\nNaomi\u2019s entreaties did not break her\n\nRuth was obstinate, dogged, unbending\nStrong-willed, inflexible, unrelenting\n\nStubborn in character could be a vice\nBut stubborn in faith, no need to think twice\n\nMay Ruth\u2019s stubbornness inspire us all\nUnlike Orpah, we should always stand tall\n\nIn our journeys of faith, that we shall find\nCourage, conviction, our faith in mind\n\n\n<em>Ronen Khordipour makes Torah wisdom accessible to a wide Jewish audience through simple rhyming poetry.
