Who doesn’t associate Rosh Hashana with apples? This super easy recipe from Mrs. Raizelle Serebrowski, assistant director of the Oorah Rebbetzins program, gives you a new way to add them to your menu.

Ingredients:

Filling:
5 apples, shredded
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pastry Dough:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
dash salt
3/4 cup oil
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix pastry dough ingredients in food processor, dry ingredients first. It will have a crumbly consistency. Press 3/4 of the dough into a 9×13 pan. Spread apple filling over the dough. Sprinkle remaining pastry crumbs over the apples.

Bake at 350 F for 30-45 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
