THE DAILY DOSE OF TORAH

This week’s Torah portion discusses the different laws that Moses told the Jewish people while they were still encamped at the foot of Mount Sinai, where they received the luchos, the two Tablets. The Tablets did not contain all the mitzvos, commandments, but they did include the ten primary commandments which are the basis of the entire Torah. Our Sages tell us something fascinating. At Mount Sinai, the Jews achieved such a high level of spirituality that they merited a special miracle. All the sick people were healed from their illnesses!

Unfortunately, this miracle was short-lived, lasting only as long as the Tablets. When the Jews sinned with the Golden Calf, Moses had no choice but to break the Tablets. At that time, the Jewish people lost their high level of holiness and were no longer worthy of this special miracle. With this introduction in mind…

So many Jews were healed when the Torah was given that the Jews began to call the place MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL. However, the cure of the Torah only worked if you took the correct dosage. In order to be healed, you had to take TWO TABLETS! To work effectively, you had to take the TABLETS WHOLE. Unfortunately, the Jews became stubborn and refused to follow the Torah. Therefore, the TABLETS WERE CRUSHED– because they became too hard for the Jews to SWALLOW. After they were crushed, they no longer worked and the Jews got sick again…

This reminds me of a joke.
Why do Jews go to chiropractors so often?
BECAUSE THEY ARE A STIFF-NECKED PEOPLE!
